Blogs, domains, RSS — it’s all a blur!

Today’s been a frustrating day.  Last night I created my first blog.  I used WordPress to create it and in no time it was live.  That’s the good news.  The bad news is I found it pretty confusing.  Here are just some of the things that confuse me:

  • I created a domain name that I then wanted to change, and I can’t figure out how to change it.
  • I’m still confused about the difference between “sharing” a video and “linking” a video?
  • RSS and FeedBurner — What’s the relationship between the two?  Do I need to use FeedBurner so others can subscribe to my site?  Do I also use RSS to subscribe to others’ sites?  And what exactly am I subscribing to — an entire blog or just the latest entry?  And where do I go to view it?

I made some progress.  I figured out how to add links and categories.  I set up social media categories for viewing the best videos, articles, and blogs that I have seen on the subject and then I attached lots of articles in there.  I think that’s right.

I wish I could edit my permalink, my domain name, and my username.  I think I’m stuck with the username and I think I read somewhere I can change my domain name but I wasn’t able to — I wanted to change it to The Chronicle Blog or something close to it but nothing I tried worked.  Maybe that name is taken already or maybe I have to pay for a new name or maybe I’m just not doing it right.  Still want to figure that out.
